You also want to make sure that it wouldn’t feel like you are sleeping on a garbage bag.
Futon covers also have the added benefit of adding color and patterns to your decor. If you are using the futon as a sofa, then this can be great for blending the futon furniture into the room. If you are solely using the futon mattress as a bed, then decorative colors and designs will not be necessary and you should be able to save a few dollars in the process.
