The Master Suite
The master suite in the home is where you and your loved one want to go and relax. Many times you look around and think you need an update but aren’t quite sure what to do. Here are a few tips and tricks of the trade.
Depending on the set up of your master bedroom and the way the dressing area and bath are connected, you can have them flow off of each other with colors. If you have basic white walls in your bath and bedroom, then sprucing things up and decorating can be very simple by adding some color here and there.
You can even decorate for each season, just by changing the bedding and the curtains. Curtains can sometime be pretty expensive and if you are operating under a budget like most people these days, then simple tabbed topped curtains or panels are good to use. Just make sure that the curtain rods you are using are appropriate for tabbed topped panels. If you are unsure what tabbed topped panels are, it’s simple; you will be able to see the rod that the panel is hanging on, so you want to make sure it’s not the old metal type of rod.
If you’re looking to switch out your linens and curtains every season for a new look try going for something brighter in the pastel color. This will be a great look for spring as well as summer. Try going for the pinks, greens, yellows, and melon colors to bring the brightness into the rooms design. In the winter you can always go with something heavier and darker since winter is the cooler months you want it to seem warmer indoors. Try going for blues and greens in the winter time. If you aren’t too thrilled with using bright colors in larger forms then add a few throw pillows into the mix. If you choose yellow bedding then throw a few pastel pink and green pillows onto the bed.
Since you are updating the master suites look why not move into the bathroom with a few steps. By adding plants into the decor you’ll brighten up the design and bring the nature indoors. You also can add great area rugs into the setting which will counteract the colors which you’ve chosen for the rest of the room. They will be used as accents along with a warm feeling into the rooms design.
Placing lace doilies on your end tables and even dressers will give you a great new look as well. It will soften the furniture piece as well as add a pinch of color. Placing area rugs on each side of the bed as well as the foot of the bed will also bring a punch of color and also a warmer feeling into the room’s textures.
You can’t forget the patio if you have one leading out of your master suite. By choosing great lounge furniture with the color scheme which you’ve chosen in the room for the cushions you’ll be able to make each room flow into each other. Nothing is better than opening the door to your bedroom on a cool summer’s night with the breeze flowing in.
