by Mara hernandez-Capili

Your tile floor requires regular maintenance and cleaning in order for it to be in top shape always. This article is written to provide everyone with simple tips and tricks on cleaning your tiled floor. In here, you will find that the right remedy is almost always preventive maintenance. This way, you will be saving a few bucks from materials and labor in replacing your old and damaged tile flooring with a new one.

First tip: Sweep or vacuum your tile floor everyday. Debris that had settled on the grout will build up and will be very hard to remove over time. Do this regularly especially if you have a toddler in your house. Remove toys or other objects that may easily collect dirt. Place pads under the feet of your furniture pieces to prevent scratching the tile surface.

Second tip: Regualrly wash your floor with soap and water at least once a week in order to remove a week spill, grease or grime. It is also advisable to wash the surface with water to prevent a thin film of detergent build up. Scrub it down using a mop or used clothes, an old toothbrush for grout cleaning.

Third tip: Use silicone based (transparent) grout sealers to seal in the stain or color of your grout and prevent it from fading. Do not use bleach solution while scrubbing down your grout as it may remove the stain from it. Wipe spills immediately using a damp cloth for food stain and a mixture of hot water and soap solution on damp cloth for grease or oil stain.

Fourth tip: Do not use harsh cleaning agents in caring for your tiled floor as it may discolor or remove the glaze from your tile. Ensure that your hands are protected with tight rubber gloves when dealing with cleaners so your skin would not be harmed.
